Baron Jenkins of Hillhead ( 1920–2003), English politician and scholar; full name Roy Harris Jenkins. He was a member of Parliament 1948–76 and 1982–87 and then served as chancellor of Oxford University. Notable works: Mr. Attlee (1948), Truman (1986), and Gladstone (1995).
