Definition of Menderes in English:

A river in southwestern Turkey. It rises in the Anatolian plateau and flows for about 240 miles (384 km) to the Aegean Sea south of the Greek island of Samos. Known in ancient times as the Maeander—and noted for its winding course—it gave its name to the verb meander.
