( 1890–1986), Soviet statesman; born Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Skryabin; full name Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov. As commissar (later minister) for foreign affairs 1939–49 and 1953–56, he negotiated the nonaggression pact with Nazi Germany in 1939 and after 1945 represented the former Soviet Union at the United Nations.
