Definition of New Zealand Wars in English:

A series of wars fought intermittently in 1845-8 and 1860–72 between Maoris and the colonial government of New Zealand over the enforced sale of Maori lands to Europeans, which was forbidden by the Treaty of Waitangi. Formerly called Maori Wars.
