( 1889–1972), US aircraft designer, born in Russia; full name Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky. He built the Grand, the first large four-engined aircraft, in 1913. He went on to establish the Sikorsky company in the US and, in 1939, developed the first mass-produced helicopter.
