Bloch, Ernest

(1880–1959), US composer; born in Switzerland. His work reflects the influence of the late 19th-century romanticism of Franz Liszt and Richard Strauss and of Jewish musical forms. Notable works: Israel Symphony (1912–16) and Solomon (1916).
