Boccaccio, Giovanni

Pronunciation: /bəˈkäCHēˌō/
(1313–75), Italian writer, poet, and humanist. He is most noted for the Decameron (1348–58), a collection of 100 tales told by ten young people living in the country in order to escape the Black Death.
