Definition of community order in English:
A non-custodial sentence which requires an offender to perform community service, observe a curfew, undergo treatment for drug or alcohol addiction, etc., instead of going to prison.
- The Royal College of Music graduate, who was herself battling heroin addiction, was given a 12-month community order at Gloucester Crown Court.
- He also resentenced him for breaching the original community order.
- He was sentenced to six months in prison, with three months for breaching a community order to run consecutively.
