Coppola, Francis Ford

(1939-), US movie director, writer, and producer. He is known for The Godfather (1972) and its two sequels, which chart the fortunes of a New York Mafia family over several generations. Other notable movies include The Conversation (1974) and Apocalypse Now (1979).
