Definition of ecocline in English:
A cline from one ecosystem to another, showing a continuous gradient between the two extremes.
- The treeline ecocline above timberline was characterized by the mixed occurrence of tree, shrub, dwarf-shrub, and herbaceous species, but it did not encompass more than 100-150 altitudinal meters.
- Almost all tree invasion of the meadow occurs in the narrow forest-meadow ecocline because trees at the edge of the forest reduce the cover of herbaceous plants in the adjacent meadow.
