Fourier, Joseph

Pronunciation: /ˈfo͝orēˌā/ Pronunciation: /fo͞orˈyā/
(1768–1830), French mathematician; full name Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier. He solved partial differential equations by the method of separation of variables and superposition, which led him to analyze the series and integrals that are now known by his name.
