Ginsberg, Allen

Pronunciation: /ˈɡinzbərɡ/
(1926–97), US poet. Part of the beat generation and later influential in the hippie movement of the 1960s, he is noted for Howl and Other Poems (1956), in which he attacked society for its materialism and complacency.
