Hickok, James Butler

Pronunciation: /ˈhikäk/
(1837–76), US frontiersman and marshal; known as Wild Bill Hickok. The legend of his invincibility became something of a challenge to gunmen, and he was eventually murdered at Deadwood, South Dakota.
