A festival, held on 3 May (Holy Rood Day), commemorating the reputed finding of the Cross of Christ by Helena, mother of the emperor Constantine, in ad 326.
- The 3rd of May was called the feast of the Invention of the Cross, and it commemorated in a special manner Saint Helena's discovery of the sacred wood of the Cross.
- The Invention of the Cross is the name given to the supposed discovery of the cross upon which Jesus Christ had been executed.
