Jansen, Cornelius Otto

Pronunciation: /ˈjansən/ Pronunciation: /ˈyänsən/
(1585–1638), Flemish theologian; founder of Jansenism. A Roman Catholic, he strongly opposed the Jesuits and proposed reform of Christianity through a return to the teachings of St. Augustine.
