Leibniz, Gottfried Wilhelm

Pronunciation: /ˈlībˌnits/ /ˈlīp-/
(1646–1716), German rationalist philosopher, mathematician, and logician. He argued that the world is composed of single units (monads) and also devised a method of calculus independently of Newton.
