Liston, Sonny

Pronunciation: /ˈlistən/
(1932–70), US heavyweight boxing champion; born Charles Liston. He defeated Floyd Patterson for the world heavyweight championship in 1962 but lost the title to Muhammad Ali (then Cassius Clay) in 1964.
