Lorre, Peter

Pronunciation: /ˈlôrē/
(1904–64), US actor, born in Hungary; born Laszlo Lowenstein. He was known for the sinister roles he played, as in M (1931), The Maltese Falcon (1941), and The Raven (1963). He also portrayed Mr. Moto, a Japanese detective, in eight movies (1937–39).
