A Scandinavian S-shaped bronze trumpet dating from the Bronze Age.
Example sentences
  • The Danish lur was in use from the 10th century bc to the 8th; and the Roman lituus, bucina, and cornu, and the Celtic carnyx, date from some centuries later.
  • The Cathedral choir will sing the piece, and Mr Selvik will himself play the lur, a Norwegian hunting horn which belonged to the late King Olav, and which was gifted to the centre.
