Lyotard, Jean-François

Pronunciation: /ˌlēəˈtär/
(1924–1998), French philosopher and literary critic. He outlined his “philosophy of desire,” based on the politics of Nietzsche, in L'Économie libidinale (1974). In later works, he adopted a postmodern quasi-Wittgensteinian linguistic philosophy.
