Manson, Charles

Pronunciation: /ˈmansən/
(1934-), US cult leader. He founded a commune based on free love and complete subordination to him. In 1969, its members carried out a series of murders, including that of actress Sharon Tate (1943–69), for which he and some followers received the death sentence, which was later commuted to life imprisonment.
