Osborne, John

Pronunciation: /ˈäzˌbôrn/ /-bərn/
(1929–94), English playwright; full name John James Osborne. His first play, Look Back in Anger (1956), ushered in a new era of kitchen-sink drama. Its hero, Jimmy Porter, personified contemporary disillusioned youth, the so-called angry young man.
