Statius, Publius Papinius

Pronunciation: /ˈstāSH(ē)əs/
(Circa ad 45-96), Roman poet. He is best known for the Silvae, a miscellany of poems addressed to friends, and for the Thebais, an epic concerning the bloody quarrel between the sons of Oedipus.
