Definition of taphouse in English:
A place where alcoholic drinks, especially beer, were available on tap; a public house.
- In 1756 a certain Thomas Gresham died from injuries sustained in a fight which began in the taphouse but, remarkably enough, the City records contain no other references to such drunken brawls.
- His custom suffers because the policemen take their drinks in the taphouses.
