A small, insectivorous mammal native to Madagascar, different kinds of which resemble hedgehogs, shrews, or small otters.
  • Several genera in the family Tenrecidae: many species, including the common (or tailless) tenrec (Tenrec ecaudatus), also found in the Comoro islands.
