Urey, Harold

Pronunciation: /ˈyo͝orē/
(1893–1981), US chemist; full name Harold Clayton Urey. He discovered deuterium in 1932, pioneered the use of isotope labeling, and served as director of the Manhattan Project at Columbia University. Nobel Prize for Chemistry (1934).
