A complex of buildings in New York featuring twin skyscrapers 110 storeys high, designed by Minoru Yamasaki and completed in 1972. The towers were completely destroyed on 11 September 2001 when two airliners hijacked by Islamic fundamentalist terrorists were flown into them.
