Agassiz, Jean Louis Rodolphe

Pronunciation: /ˈaɡəsi/
(1807–73), Swiss-born American zoologist, geologist, and palaeontologist. In 1837 Agassiz was the first to propose that much of Europe had once been in the grip of an ice age.
