A hairy yellowish chafer with broad black stripes, which flies by day and is typically seen on flowers.
- Genus Trichius, family Scarabaeidae: several species, in particular T. fasciatus
- The wing casings on the bee beetle vary in colour from creamy-yellow to deep orange.
- Observant visitors can also see some conspicuous looking insects, such as the large black carpenter bee, and shiny rose bugs and bee beetles sitting on the flowering heads of Libanotis pyrenaica, and some colourful butterflies fly over the large courtyard - e.g. the painted lady, red admiral, and the scarce swallowtail.
