Culpeper, Nicholas

Pronunciation: /ˈkʌlpɛpə/
(1616–54), English herbalist. His Complete Herbal (1653) popularized herbalism and, despite embracing ideas of astrology and the doctrine of signatures, was important in the development of botany and pharmacology.
