Du Vigneaud, Vincent

Pronunciation: /duː ˈviːnjəʊ/
(1901–78), American biochemist. He studied vitamins and hormones, especially insulin, methionine, and biotin. He isolated and synthesized oxytocin and vasopressin, for which he received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1955.
