Duncan, Isadora

Pronunciation: /ˈdʌŋk(ə)n/
(1878–1927), American dancer and teacher. She was a pioneer of modern dance, famous for her ‘free’ barefoot dancing. She died through being accidentally strangled when her scarf became entangled in the wheels of a car.
