Ekman, Vagn Walfrid

Pronunciation: /ˈɛkmən/
(1874–1954), Swedish oceanographer. He recognized the importance of the Coriolis effect on ocean currents, showing that it can be responsible for surface water moving at an angle to the prevailing wind direction.
