Fokine, Michel

Pronunciation: /ˈfəʊkiːn/
(1880–1942), Russian-born American dancer and choreographer; born Mikhail Mikhailovich Fokin. He was a reformer of modern ballet: as Diaghilev’s chief choreographer he staged the premieres of Chopin’s Les Sylphides (1909) and Stravinsky’s The Firebird (1910).
