Hubble, Edwin Powell

Pronunciation: /ˈhʌb(ə)l/
(1889–1953), American astronomer. He studied galaxies and devised a classification scheme for them. In 1929 he proposed what is now known as Hubble’s law with its constant of proportionality (Hubble’s constant).
