Definition of petitgrain in English:
An essential oil with a floral scent distilled from the leaves and bark of the orange tree and from other citrus plants, used in perfumery.
- If you don't like a scent that's too full, you can use a lighter one like mimosa or night-scented stock petitgrain (it's the leaves of the orange tree, it has a green character with nuances of neroli and orange)
- As you might suspect, these fragrances tend to have refreshing clean, green, citrusy notes (bergamot, orange, lemon, petitgrain and mandarin) or fresh smells, like those of the ocean, and they can be unisex.
From French petit grain 'little grain' (from the small green fruits originally used).
