Sharp, Cecil

Pronunciation: /ʃɑːp/
(1859–1924), English collector of folk songs and folk dances; full name Cecil James Sharp. From 1904 onwards he published a number of collections of songs and dances, stimulating a revival of interest in English folk music. Sharp also founded the English Folk Dance Society in 1911.
