Soyinka, Wole

Pronunciation: /ʃɔɪˈɪŋkə/
(B.1934), Nigerian playwright, novelist, and critic. In 1986 he became the first African to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. Notable works: The Lion and the Jewel (play, 1959) and The Interpreters (novel, 1965).
