Definition of T-lymphocyte in English:
A lymphocyte of a type produced or processed by the thymus gland and actively participating in the immune response. Also called T-cell. Compare with B-lymphocyte.
- Some tumors cause apoptosis in T-lymphocytes thus preventing the immune system from rejecting them.
- Nevertheless, there were no large differences between T-lymphocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, eosinophils, and mast cells numbers and percentages in distal lung regions of normal subjects.
- The number of inflammatory cells generally increased toward the periphery, but the percentage of T-lymphocytes, eosinophils, monocytes/macrophages, and neutrophils remained similar or decreased from large to small airways.
1970s: from T for thymus.
