Tombaugh, Clyde William

Pronunciation: /ˈtɒmbɔː/
(1906–97), American astronomer. His chief discovery was that of Pluto on 13 March 1930, which he made from the Lowell Observatory in Arizona. Tombaugh subsequently discovered numerous asteroids.
